The Banded Sculpin is found throughout the Southeast and even into the Ozarks.  They are a widespread throughout their range primarily inahabiting streams and rivers with cooler waters.

Conservation Fisheries has spawned the species as a mussel host in the past, but is currently working with them to return them to formerly dewatered sections of the Cheoah in NC.
