Status: IUCN: Least Concern

Threats: Agricultural practices, climate change, habitat destruction, and sedimentation (What do these terms mean?)

Native Range: Coastal Plain from Ocmulgee (Atlantic Slope) and Flint (Gulf Slope) river systems, GA, to Colorado River systems, TX; north in Former Mississippi Embayment to w. KY and se. MO; Above Fall Line only in Ocmulgee River (What do these terms mean?)

Spawning Habitat Preferences: Late winter spawners in small streams, springs, and seeps with low flow; lay eggs in aquatic vegetation and detritus

CFI Status: Propagated at CFI from 2004-2005 to develop propagation protocols as a surrogate species for the Rush Darter. (What do these terms mean?)
