Etowah Darter | Nothonotus etowahae

Status: IUCN: Vulnerable; USFWS: Endangered (1994)

Threats: Habitat fragmentation, impoundments and sedimentation.

CFI Status: Propagated at CFI from 2002-2005 for propagation protocols* (What do these terms mean?)

Native Range: Upper Etowah River system, GA (above Allatoona Reservoir).

Spawning Habitat Preferences: Late spring to summer spawners in large creeks to medium-sized rivers with high flow; eggs are buried in gravel substrate.

Fun Fact: The fish propagated were provided for a mark-recapture sampling effort experiment.
