Threats: Deforestation, impoundments, and sedimentation (What do these terms mean?)

Native Range: Middle Cumberland River drainage (Big South Fork and Rockcastle Rivers), KY and TN; upper Tennessee River drainage, NC, TN, and GA

Spawning Habitat Preferences: Spring spawners in large to medium rivers with very high flow; eggs are laid in gravel near very large boulders

CFI Status: Propagated at CFI from 2016-2019 for propagation protocols and restoration. (What do these terms mean?)
