Hidden Rivers by Freshwaters Illustrated

Freshwaters Illustrated is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 2003, the UN International Year of Freshwater.

Their mission is to raise public awareness about the life, study, and conservation of freshwater ecosystems through immersive visual media and stories, and providing imagery and resources to scientists, educators, and media producers.

They have a vision to help inspire a world that is more conscious of freshwater life and more sympathetic to the cause of freshwater conservation.

Conservation Fisheries is proud to be partnered with Freshwaters Illustrated. We are honored to be a part of this phenomenal project showcasing the rich biodiversity of Southern Appalachia and the conservation efforts that go into preserving this richness.

Hidden Rivers

Ten years in the making, Hidden Rivers is Freshwaters Illustrated’s newest feature film that explores the rivers and streams of the Southern Appalachian region, North America’s most biologically rich waters. The film follows the work of conservation biologists and explorers throughout the region (including us!) and reveals both the beauty and vulnerability of these ecosystems.

Q&A with Conservation Fisheries Biologists

If you are local to Knoxville or hosting a virtual event, a few or one of our biologists may be available for an in-person or virtual Q&A, respectively, following your event showing.

While compensation is not required, we are always accepting donations for our time.
