Status: IUCN: Least Concern

Threats: Agricultural practices, habitat destruction, and sedimentation (What do these terms mean?)

Native Range: Ohio River basin from ne. PA to e. IL, and south to n. AL and n. GA; White and St. Francis River systems MO and AR; Mississippi River, w. TN; Ouachita River system, AR; and Red River system, AR, OK

Spawning Habitat Preferences: Late spring into summer spawners in streams with low to moderate flow; lay clutches of eggs under small to medium-sized flat rocks

CFI Status: Reared at CFI during sporadic years throughout our history due to accidental collections while collecting nests for Yellowfin Madtoms; in 2015-2017 for graduate research. (What do these terms mean?)
